The metro along the Outer Ring Road, 19.75 km from Silk Board to KR Puram, is now targeted to open in mid-2027, subject to statutory clearances. BMRCL had aimed to open it in 2026. Trial runs were due to start at the end of October.
The airport line comes after it
The KR Puram–airport line runs behind the ORR stretch. By late October, 18.6 of its 52.9 track-km had been laid.
In August, the contractor on the Yelahanka–airport section sought its third extension, to March 2027. With about six months needed for trials after civil work, the Hebbal–airport stretch was not expected to open before September 2027. BMRCL was aiming to open KR Puram–Hebbal by December 2027.
What it means along the ORR
Until the line opens, the ORR office belt between Silk Board and KR Puram has no metro. For developers launching along the corridor, and for capital partners underwriting projects there, the metro is a 2027 date, not a service: absorption and pricing that assume it carry schedule risk.
