The elevated metro on Bannerghatta Road had its statutory safety inspection on 6–8 October. The safety commissioner raised observations, which BMRCL is addressing, and the state government has asked the Prime Minister for an inauguration date. No opening date has been announced. What opens first is 7.5 km, Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, with an interchange at Jayadeva.

How the dates moved

The elevated stretch has been given four opening dates so far:

  • December 2025
  • March 2026
  • May 2026
  • 15 August 2026, given by the Greater Bengaluru Development Minister

In August, the hold-up was signalling. Trains had been cleared to run at 90 km/h and six trainsets had been delivered, but the signalling software was still being validated. BREI's estimate at the time was late August or early September. Before the inspection, opening was expected from mid-October.

The underground section

The underground section, from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, is the part that reaches MG Road. It is now due in March 2027. It was due in December 2026, and its tunnelling finished in 2024.

For buyers near a station

Flats on Bannerghatta Road have been sold on metro connectivity for years, while six finished stations stood unused. Price a home on what runs the day you take possession. Anything that comes earlier is a bonus you have not paid for.
